(Late) 'Eid Mubarak!
TaqabbalAllah minna wa minkum... I hope you all had a good 'Eid, insha'Allah!
Mine was all right, al-Hamdulillaah - went for 'Eid salaah (we had 'Eid on Friday), and had the usual family gathering and 'Eid loot.
Yesterday, however, was not so grand... we organized the first "real" 'Eid party in my city, and we vastly underestimated the amount of people who came - not entirely our fault, though, because people walked in even though they hadn't bought tickets in advance! I'm thinking of writing a post titled "A Day in the Life of... an 'Eid Party Volunteer - Or, 101 Reasons Why I Hate People." (Although I'll probably end up getting lazy and not writing it at all!)
Anyway, let me know how your 'Eid went! :)
Love,
Mouse

asalaamu alaikum,
where exactly in the west coast of canada do you live?
If I told you, I wouldn't an anonymouse anymore, would I? :)
lol. I'm just wondering because I live in the Vancouver area and I've never really seen any local Muslims on forums or blogs. Do you live in B.C?
Vancouver! My old city... I really miss it... :(
Yes, I do live in B.C.
By any chance, have you heard of Dar al-Madinah Islamic Society?
Nice, masha'allah.
And of course I've heard of Dar al-Madinah. Sh. Othman is the Imam there. Sh. Yunus moved to Victoria, do you live in Victoria?
Have you been to the masjid in Richmond? Thats the closest to us and the one we usually go to.
I just moved out of Vancouver after (partially) living there for 15 months, right on the waterfront downtown. It's been five weeks since I left, and I am starting to miss it.
But let's let our gracious host Mouse have her privacy, okay? If she doesn't want to reveal her location, it isn't quite right to keep prodding like that.
JazakAllah Faraz :)
This is definitely the first I've heard of a Vancouverite Muslim in the blogworld... pretty cool...
I look forward to seeing your around, br. Ibn Abu Jetmir! Check out MuslimMatters.org, insha'Allah - it's my "official" blogspace now.
Take care, insha'Allah, and ma'as-salaamah!
lol, I apologize, sorry for being pushy. Nice blog.
wa alaikum salaam wa rahmetullah.
asalamu alaykum sis
I've volunteered at Eid's ( parties..and even just facilitating prayer) for the past 6 years and each year I say I'm never going to do it again and I end up doing it...subhanallah.
It can really test you patience the way some people act...
